Adoption of Metro Ethernet has come a long way, much due to the efforts of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). This forum's mission is to create specifications for everything having to do with the management, architecture, communications and implementation of such networks. Those suppliers, Nextcom included, who adhere to MEF specifications, give their clients the means to take a leading role in the broadband hook up arena.
By offering MEF based Metro Ethernet technology we have made available a large number of topological configurations, from simple point to point or one point to many configurations, to the most complicated of configurations (Full Mesh) that enables connecting multiple endpoints to multiple endpoints. In addition, we also offer a full range of ring configurations to enhance survivability without requiring inter-site connections.
The technology uses Ethernet for purposes of access only – we are referring to Layer 2 that meets ISO standards.
